TWINKLE,  TWINKLE  LITTLE  STAR

  Lyrics:  Jane Taylor (English, 1806)        Melody:  "Ah! vous dirai-je, maman" (French, 1761)
This melody is included for the benefit of those of you with young children or grand-children (or even great-grand children).  They may be entertained, perhaps even amused, to hear you playing this famous and familiar children's number.

The melody is also used in an "ABC Alphabet Song" and "Baa Baa Black Sheep",
also well known to young children.

Some classical musicians, including W.A.Mozart in 1781, composed variations around this melody.
​There is also (unproven) folklore that Mozart actually composed it as a young child.
