Many people see the button accordion (melodeon) as an instrument for jigs, reels and other fast music. One of my favorite examples of a slow tune beautifully played on the button accordion is Paddy Callaghan's "Be Thou My Vision" and Reels. (Yes, Paddy can also play jigs and reels brilliantly - on the same youTube video).... Both tunes are well worth a listen!
So ... give "What a Wonderful World" a try on your accordion. Although most of the youTube renditions are relatively slow, some are not (see "Okaidi and Playing for Change" as an example).
You may note that there are "triplets" in three of the verses, in which three notes are held for one or two beats. Here these are shown in parenthesis, preceded by a colon (:) for two beats. Skilled performances of this song may include many more triplets than shown here, some single beat.

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you And I think to myself what a wonderful world I see skies of blue and clouds of white The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night And I think to myself what a wonderful world The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky Are also on the faces of people going by I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do They're really saying I love you I hear babies crying, I watch them grow They'll learn much more than I'll never know And I think to myself what a wonderful world Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world |
